Mercedes-AMG One (Project One)

The Mercedes-AMG Project One was conceived as a bold statement of engineering prowess—a road car that directly translates Formula 1 technology to the street. Announced at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Project One emerged from Mercedes-AMG’s desire to celebrate its dominance in Formula 1 by blending the performance of its championship-winning hybrid powertrains with the usability of a road-legal hypercar. Development proved immensely complex, as engineers worked to adapt the highly strung 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 from the F1 W07 race car for everyday use, ensuring it could meet emissions regulations, operate reliably at lower revs, and last beyond a few thousand kilometers. Years of refinement, testing, and technical challenges delayed its launch, but the final product—275 units, officially renamed the Mercedes-AMG ONE— is the apotheotic culmination of Mercedes racing technology for the street, as done previously with the 300SL (1954-1963) and the CLK GTR Straßenversion (1998-1999).

At its core, the AMG ONE features a turbocharged 1,599cc V6 hybrid engine derived directly from Formula 1, paired with four electric motors to produce a combined output of 1,063 horsepower. The internal combustion engine revs up to an astonishing 11,000 rpm, while the electric motors provide instantaneous torque, enhancing acceleration and efficiency. Power is distributed to all four wheels through an advanced all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automated manual transmission. The ONE’s chassis and body are built from lightweight carbon fiber, with active aerodynamics including an adjustable rear wing and complex airflow management systems for optimal downforce. Performance figures are staggering: 0–100 km/h in around 2.9 seconds, 0–200 km/h in just 7 seconds, and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h—all delivered with hybrid efficiency and cutting-edge energy recovery systems that mirror Mercedes’ Formula 1 technology.

This particular car is a brand-new 2025 production model specced for the Gulf market, and finished in a rare Designo Diamond White —a refreshing and unusual shade, compared to the more common grey and black configurations.
