Corvette C3 1979 RestoMod in Olive Green

About AED 70,000 has been spent on this car and the car itself is not in that figure. It is for sale at AED 69,000.
1979 Chevrolet Corvette, C3.

Rebuilt here by a workshop that specialises in American muscle. Bodywork and paint, a full retrim, a 5.7 litre crate V8 fitted new during the work, digital instruments and a Kenwood audio install with boxed subwoofers in the load area. The gearbox is the three speed Turbo Hydra-Matic 350, which is what Chevrolet put behind every small block Corvette from 1976 until 1981 and is about as close to unbreakable as a 1970s automatic gets. If you want three pedals, this is not your car.

The colour is the reason you stopped. Chevrolet built 53,807 Corvettes in 1979, which is the highest figure the car has ever reached in a single year, and the chart that year ran white, silver, black, two blues, a dark green, two beiges, red, dark brown and yellow. There is no olive on it. This green went on here, on purpose, and it is described as a respray everywhere it is mentioned.
Inside it is Schottenkaro tartan with black leather bolsters, a trim that General Motors has never offered on anything.

The roof is the twin panel arrangement every C3 had: two panels either side of the centre bar, off with a wrench, stowing behind the seats.

Underneath, it is what a 1979 Corvette always was. Independent rear suspension on a transverse leaf spring, discs on all four wheels, and a glassfibre body over a steel frame, so nothing rusts where you can see it and everything worth inspecting is underneath.

What is open, and you should have all of it before you come.
The odometer indicates 80,000km and nothing is offered behind that figure, so it is an indication and not a documented mileage.

The car is a US import and has not been registered in the Emirates, so the registration is the buyer's to do.
The horn pad is missing from the centre of the steering wheel and the interior wants a going over for fit and finish. Both of those are booked to be put right before handover and both are in the photographs rather than in the small print. The crate engine's own designation has not been supplied, so no engine code and no power figure appear anywhere in this advert.

The price is firm. Add the work up and it comes to more than the asking figure with the car still to buy, which is the whole reason the number does not move.
Viewing in Dubai by appointment.
