Description
Magic is a CT49 is a highly sought-after bluewater cruising yacht, designed by renowned naval architects Kaufman & Ladd and admired for its traditional strength, comfort, and offshore pedigree. She is one of the last CT49 hulls built in 1989 and features the desirable center-cockpit layout, with an aft stateroom and forward bow cabin.
She is being offered by an owner who has used her regularly around the UAE coastline, including frequent trips to Moon Island and other coastal destinations, and who has invested in a long list of practical upgrades intended to make the boat safer, easier to maintain, and more enjoyable to use. The reason for sale is because work and family commitments now leave less time to enjoy her properly. She deserves to be with someone who will sail her, maintain her, and continue making use of the work that has already gone into her.
The boat presents as a capable and usable cruising yacht rather than a cosmetic showpiece. A great deal of attention has gone into important systems and structural details, especially the deck, electrical installation, navigation, plumbing, seacocks, batteries, shaft line, winches, lighting, comfort systems, and rigging-related equipment. The teak deck has been removed and replaced with a white KiwiGrip non-skid finish, and the work went beyond surface treatment with several layers of fiberglass added to the deck. Deck fittings were removed and reinstalled with attention to core protection, using fiberglass mounting pads, epoxy-protected holes, through-bolting, beefy SS316backing plates and SS316 fasteners. The result is a practical cruising deck that is designed to be easier to live with in the Gulf climate and simpler to maintain than aging teak.
Electrical upgrades are another major part of the yacht’s appeal. Much of the wiring has been replaced with marine-grade tinned copper cable and labelled for easier troubleshooting- all imported from the US. The 230VAC side includes a custom Paneltronics panel with generator/shore switching, while the DC system benefits from Victron monitoring and charging equipment, a Victron Argofet battery isolator, a ProMariner galvanic isolator, BEP busbars, Blue Sea battery switches, and thermal breakers for high-load systems.
Six Trojan T225 6V batteries were installed in November 2025, giving the service bank a rated total capacity of 675Ah. Cabin lighting has also been updated with warm white/red LED dome lights, making the interior more comfortable and cozy.
For sailing and navigation, Magic has a useful mix of equipment for coastal cruising and passage-making. The autopilot was replaced in January 2026 with a Garmin Reactor 40 core system and Raymarine Type 2 mechanical linear drive installed on a solid based epoxied to hull and custom made bronze tiller arm from Edson marine.
Raymarine chartplotters are fitted at both the navigation table and helm, supported by Raymarine wind and depth instruments. The yacht has in-boom mainsail furling by Furlboom, a head furler replaced in 2016, running rigging renewed over the last two to three years, and installed sails include the main and genoa. A storm staysail and spinnaker are also included and in great condition and unused since the boat was purchased in 2020. Cutter rigged.
The mast and standing rigging were replaced in 2016, with standing rigging replacement recommended soon as part of normal ongoing upkeep.
Below deck, the yacht is set up for comfortable use in warm weather. There are three working air-conditioning units, including two 16k BTU Dometic units installed in 2020 and one 16k BTU Marvair unit with a Micro-Air soft start installed in 2022 to improve operation under generator power. The master bedroom and living room cushions were replaced in 2020, and the cockpit cushions and bimini were also replaced in December 2020 using marine-grade fabric from Spain and are described as being in very good condition. The galley area includes a microwave/oven, two portable electric stoves, and a freezer compartment with cold plate. The original fridge has been removed and the space rebuilt as a large open cabinet, creating a practical provision for a future standalone very large marine fridge unit if the next owner wants to install one.
Mechanically, Magic has a Perkins 4.154 engine that is working well and regularly serviced. Supporting work includes a rebuilt Sherwood seawater pump, rebuit diesel injection pump, new alternator installed in January 2025, replaced Aquamet 22 propeller shaft from the USA, new mated gearbox coupling.
During 2026 lift out; replaced cutlass bearings and Tides Marine shaft seal plus engine realignment and regular servicing.
20-inch three-blade fixed propeller replaced in March 2022.
The yacht also includes useful spares for the engine and generator. On deck, the two Arco Australia 60ST electric winches have had their gearboxes rebuilt by Arco Australia and are in perfect working condition. 4 other manual ST Barlow winches on deck plus a brand new Lewmar 40 ST with Mast Pad in box.
A Maxwell HRC 10-8 chain and rope windlass is also fitted, with a spare new wired remote.
Generator is a Fischer Panda 8000i with approx. 500 hours on it. Regularly serviced and operating well. Can run 3 A/Cs simultaneously.
The plumbing and underwater fittings have also received significant attention. All seacocks were replaced in January 2026 using bronze Groco FBV seacocks, bronze Groco fittings, and backing plates glassed using West System Epoxy. Hoses are double-clamped with SS316 clamps, and two new bronze AC strainers were installed in January 2026.
The aft master cabin has an electric Jabsco toilet installed in December 2020, while the forward lavatory has a manual Jabsco toilet also installed new in December 2020. Forward and aft shower basins have been glassed into the hull with isolated chambers, dedicated Whale Gulper pumps, and overboard discharge. Tankage includes two diesel tanks in the main cabin and one water tank forward.
Serious enquiries are welcome. Viewings can be arranged for buyers looking for a well-cared-for bluewater cruiser with a long list of meaningful upgrades and honest, usable cruising potential.
