Biomedical Engineer – Medical Devices & Sales
**Location:** Dubai, United Arab Emirates
**Department:** Medical Devices / Sales & Technical Operations
**Reports To:** General Manager / Medical Director
**Employment Type:** Full-Time
Job Purpose
We are seeking a commercially driven and technically competent **Biomedical Engineer** to support the medical device and healthcare products activities of our licensed medical/drug store in Dubai.
The position combines **biomedical engineering, medical device sales, product sourcing, technical support, regulatory compliance, and business development**. The successful candidate should understand both the technical aspects of medical equipment and the commercial and regulatory requirements for importing, registering, distributing, selling, installing, and supporting medical devices and related healthcare products within the UAE.
### Key Responsibilities
**1. Medical Device Sales & Business Development**
* Develop and manage sales of medical devices, equipment, consumables, and related healthcare products.
* Identify new business opportunities with hospitals, clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, medical centers, and healthcare groups.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, procurement departments, biomedical engineering departments, laboratory managers, and healthcare decision-makers.
* Prepare quotations, commercial proposals, product presentations, and technical submissions.
* Participate in tenders and Requests for Quotation (RFQs) from government and private healthcare organizations.
* Conduct product demonstrations and provide technical explanations to healthcare professionals.
* Negotiate commercial terms within approved company policies and sales targets.
* Follow up on leads, quotations, purchase orders, deliveries, and customer payments.
* Maintain an organized sales pipeline and provide regular sales forecasts and reports.
* Identify opportunities to introduce new medical technologies and product lines to the UAE market.
**2. Biomedical Engineering & Technical Support**
* Evaluate medical equipment from a technical, clinical, and commercial perspective.
* Review product specifications, datasheets, manuals, certificates, and technical documentation.
* Support installation, commissioning, testing, and acceptance of medical equipment where applicable.
* Coordinate preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, calibration, and technical servicing.
* Troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate with manufacturers or authorized service providers when required.
* Maintain equipment service records, installation records, maintenance reports, and technical documentation.
* Provide technical training and product orientation to customers and internal staff.
* Ensure equipment supplied by the company meets applicable technical, electrical safety, performance, and manufacturer requirements.
**3. UAE Regulatory & Compliance Responsibilities**
* Maintain good working knowledge of UAE requirements applicable to medical devices and healthcare products.
* Support compliance with requirements of the **Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP)** and other relevant UAE authorities.
* Understand the regulatory requirements applicable to medical device registration, importation, distribution, storage, sale, and post-market activities.
* Assist with preparation and submission of product registration and regulatory documentation.
* Review regulatory documents received from international manufacturers, including:
* Free Sale Certificates
* CE certificates and applicable EU documentation
* FDA documentation, where applicable
* ISO 13485 certificates
* Declaration of Conformity
* Manufacturer authorization letters
* Technical files and product specifications
* Labels and Instructions for Use (IFU)
* Certificates of Origin and other import documentation
* Coordinate with regulatory consultants, manufacturers, authorized representatives, freight forwarders, and government authorities as required.
* Monitor changes in UAE medical device regulations and communicate relevant requirements internally.
* Support regulatory inspections and maintain records in an inspection-ready condition.
**4. Medical Store / Drug Store Operations**
* Support the day-to-day technical and commercial activities of the medical store.
* Ensure products are appropriately received, stored, handled, and distributed according to manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate with warehouse and logistics personnel regarding medical equipment and sensitive healthcare products.
* Support inventory management and monitor stock availability, expiry dates, serial numbers, lot/batch numbers, and product traceability where applicable.
* Assist in establishing appropriate storage and handling conditions for medical devices and consumables.
* Ensure documentation is maintained for incoming and outgoing medical equipment.
* Support recall, complaint, return, and defective-product procedures when required.
**5. Procurement & International Suppliers**
* Identify reliable international manufacturers and suppliers of medical devices and healthcare products.
* Evaluate potential products based on technical quality, certification, regulatory eligibility, market demand, pricing, and commercial potential.
* Communicate directly with manufacturers regarding distributorship and agency opportunities.
* Negotiate quotations, distributor pricing, minimum order quantities, warranties, training, spare parts, and technical support.
* Review potential products before the company commits to importation or distribution.
* Assist management in evaluating new distribution agreements and product portfolios.
**6. Product Registration & Market Introduction**
* Conduct preliminary regulatory assessments for new products before importation.
* Determine the documentation required from manufacturers for UAE registration and commercialization.
* Coordinate product registration activities from document collection through approval.
* Support the commercial launch of newly registered products.
* Prepare product positioning, competitor comparisons, technical presentations, and sales materials.
* Train the sales team on technical features, clinical applications, competitive advantages, and appropriate product positioning.
**7. Quality, Complaints & Post-Market Support**
* Maintain appropriate documentation for medical device complaints and technical incidents.
* Coordinate investigation of product complaints with manufacturers.
* Support corrective and preventive actions when required.
* Assist with product recalls, field safety corrective actions, and regulatory notifications where applicable.
* Maintain traceability of medical equipment and products where required.
* Support the company's Quality Management System and applicable SOPs.
### Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in **Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Medical Engineering**, or a closely related discipline.
* Previous experience within the **UAE healthcare, medical device, medical equipment, or medical trading sector** is strongly preferred.
* Experience working with a **medical store, drug store, medical equipment distributor, or healthcare trading company** is highly desirable.
* Demonstrable experience in **medical device sales and business development**.
* Good technical understanding of medical devices and biomedical equipment.
* Working knowledge of **UAE medical device regulatory requirements and MOHAP procedures**.
* Familiarity with CE marking, FDA documentation, ISO 13485, technical documentation, and medical device quality requirements.
* Understanding of medical device importation, registration, distribution, storage, and post-market requirements.
* Ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, certificates, and regulatory documentation.
* UAE driving licence is preferred.
* Fluent English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
