We are seeking an organised and proactive Transport Coordinator to manage the day-to-day scheduling and coordination of our vehicle fleet and drivers. Reporting to the Transport Manager or Operations Manager, the successful candidate will plan movements, allocate resources, and act as the operational link between drivers, customers, and internal departments to keep transport running on time and within cost.
The core of the role is planning and scheduling. The Transport Coordinator reviews daily and weekly transport requirements, plans routes and schedules based on delivery windows, distances, and vehicle capacity, and assigns drivers and vehicles to each job. Priorities are balanced against constraints — driver working hours, vehicle availability, maintenance schedules — so that the plan built in the morning is realistic rather than optimistic. Where demand exceeds available capacity, the coordinator escalates early rather than overcommitting the fleet.
