Job Description: Key Responsibilities Install and align mechanical systems including engines, shafting, propellers, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, and deck machinery (winches, cranes, capstans, anchor windlasses). Fabricate, fit, and install piping systems (fuel, ballast, bilge, cooling, hydraulic, and fire-fighting) per shipyard drawings and isometrics. Perform shaft alignment, engine bedding, and coupling of propulsion components. Read and interpret marine engineering drawings, P&IDs, general arrangement (GA) plans, and classification society specifications (ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register, etc.). Conduct hydrostatic, pneumatic, and leak testing of piping and pressure systems. Support hull outfitting activities including installation of hatches, watertight doors, and mechanical deck fittings. Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication of brackets, foundations, and pipe supports as required. Carry out mechanical trials, sea trials support, and commissioning of installed systems. Troubleshoot mechanical faults during construction, testing, and post-delivery warranty periods. Maintain compliance with shipyard HSE policies, confined space entry, and hot work permit procedures. Coordinate with electrical, pipefitting, and welding trades for integrated system installation. Maintain accurate job cards, inspection records, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Support afloat/dry-dock repair work as needed, including underwater hull fittings and sea chests.
