PRIVATE COOK WANTED - DUBAI - LIVE OUT - 6 DAYS
British/European family in Dubai seeking a skilled private cook. Two adults and one child. We eat clean, colourful, macro-led food, and we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys cooking that way, not someone who tolerates it.
THE ROLE
You cook and serve breakfast six mornings a week, prepare the child's school lunchbox, and prepare that day's lunch and dinner for us to eat later. You finish early afternoon and go home.
Days: Monday to Saturday. Sundays off. Saturday includes prep for Sunday's meals.
Hours: 06:30 start. Lunchbox packed and breakfast served by 07:15. Finish around 14:00.
Arrangement: Live out.
WHAT WE CARE ABOUT
MACRO-LED COOKING
We follow specific daily protein, carbohydrate and fat targets, and the two adults have different targets. These are given to you in writing and change from time to time. Your job is to hit them accurately. That means weighing proteins and carbohydrates on a digital scale, measuring oils rather than pouring freely, and portioning each adult's meals separately from a shared base.
COLOURFUL PLATES
We believe nutrition comes from variety and colour, not from supplements. We want vegetables in real quantity and real range across the week: different colours, different families, genuinely seasonal. A beige plate is a failed plate in this house.
YOUR OWN MENU
This is important, so please read it carefully. WE WILL NOT GIVE YOU RECIPES OR A MEAL PLAN. We are not looking for someone to execute instructions. We are looking for a cook who will ask us what we like, what we don't, what we're bored of, and then build our menu from that, and keep refining it based on what actually gets eaten.
If you need a recipe book handed to you, this is not the right role. If you like the idea of owning a family's food properly, it is.
CONSISTENCY
The same dish should taste the same in March as it did in January.
FRESHNESS
Fresh produce, fish and dairy bought daily. Nothing tired, nothing frozen where fresh was possible.
THE FOOD
Modern European and British home cooking, Mediterranean, and simple Asian dishes. Previous experience cooking for a Western or European family is the single most useful thing on your CV.
ENGLISH
You need to be able to hold a proper conversation in English. Ask us questions about our tastes, understand our answers, and take direction without it being written down. Because you are building our menu rather than following recipes, this genuinely matters.
ALSO PART OF THE JOB
- Proposing a weekly menu for approval
- Daily fresh grocery shopping. You will be given a household card. THERE IS NO SPENDING CAP. Buy the best quality available. We would rather you spent more on better fish than saved money on worse.
- Labelling and dating everything you prepare
- Keeping the kitchen spotless and the fridge properly rotated
- Cooking for extra people at breakfast when family are staying with us
NOT part of the job: childcare, house cleaning, laundry, driving. We have a nanny and a driver. We do not entertain at home.
VISA - FLEXIBLE
We are open to either arrangement.
WE SPONSOR YOU. Full visa sponsorship, MOHRE standard contract, all costs covered by us.
OR YOU KEEP YOUR EXISTING VISA. If you are on a spouse or family visa and would rather stay on it, that is completely fine. We will arrange and pay for the MOHRE work permit naming us as your employer.
Either way, everything is done properly and on paper.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Salary negotiable and based on experience. We pay well for the right person and are not working to a ceiling.
- Accommodation allowance paid on top of salary
- Transport allowance paid on top of salary
- Medical insurance
- 30 days paid annual leave
- Salary paid on time, every month, by bank transfer
THE PROCESS
1. Short conversation about your experience
2. PAID TWO-DAY TRIAL. Day one, you cook three meals to macro targets we give you that morning. Day two, you sit with us, ask whatever you need to about our tastes, and build a week's menu and shopping list from it. You are paid for both days whatever the outcome.
3. Offer
We are looking for someone to stay with us for years, and we will invest in the person we find.
