Job Summary
The Purchasing Assistant will support the purchasing department in acquiring materials, equipment, and services needed for construction projects. This role ensures timely, cost-effective deliveries to job sites while maintaining accurate inventory records and fostering strong vendor partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
1. Order Processing: Create, update, and manage purchase orders (POs) for construction materials, equipment, and services.
2. Sourcing & Vendor Management: Identify new suppliers, request quotes, and maintain positive relationships with existing vendors.
3. Negotiation & Cost Analysis: Compare supplier pricing to secure better rates and ensure cost-effective purchasing without sacrificing quality.
4. Logistics & Tracking: Coordinate with suppliers to track orders and ensure timely delivery to job sites.
5. Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of purchases, pricing, and vendor contracts using internal software.
6. Inventory Control: Monitor material stock levels at sites to avoid shortages.
7. Documentation: Review invoices for accuracy and process them for payment, liaising with the finance team.
8. Support: Assist purchasing managers with administrative duties, reporting, and project-based initiatives.
Qualifications
Experience: 2–4 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, specifically in construction or manufacturing.
Education: Degree
Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and knowledge of ERP Softwares
Knowledge: Understanding of construction materials, shipping procedures, and market trends.
