Job Details

The Workshop Technical Manager is the highest technical authority at Pegasus Racing. He is responsible for diagnostic accuracy, repair quality, workshop efficiency, technician development, customer technical confidence, and ensuring every vehicle leaves the workshop repaired correctly the first time.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Lead all complex diagnostics and difficult repairs.
Approve repair plans before major work begins.
Provide the final technical decision on difficult cases.
Develop workshop diagnostic procedures and best practices.
Maintain Pegasus Racing's technical standards.
Workshop Operations
Allocate jobs according to technician skill level.
Monitor workshop productivity and efficiency.
Ensure vehicles are completed on time.
Minimise comebacks and repeat repairs.
Support the Service Advisor with technical explanations.
Quality Control
Final inspection of major repairs.
Conduct road tests where required.
Verify repairs before customer delivery.
Investigate repeat failures.
Maintain repair documentation.
Training
Mentor technicians daily.
Conduct weekly technical training.
Create repair procedures and diagnostic guides.
Ensure workshop knowledge is documented rather than held by one person.
Diagnostic Expertise
Must demonstrate advanced capability in:
Engine management
Automatic transmissions
CAN/LIN/FlexRay networks
Hybrid systems (if applicable)
Electrical faults
Oscilloscope diagnostics
Air conditioning
Performance tuning
European and Japanese vehicles
Equipment Management
Maintain all diagnostic equipment.
Ensure software subscriptions remain current.
Recommend new workshop equipment.
Develop testing procedures.
Inventory & Asset Control
Protect company tools and equipment.
Approve specialist tool purchases.
Monitor use of expensive components.
Report damaged or missing assets.
Customer Support
Explain complex faults to customers.
Build customer confidence.
Support warranty decisions.
Assist with difficult customer cases.
KPIs
First-time fix rate.
Repeat repair rate.
Customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of advanced automotive diagnostics.
Experience with Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi/VW, Toyota, Nissan and high-performance vehicles.
Strong electrical and CAN-bus diagnostics.
Experience using ISTA, PIWIS, Xentry, ODIS, Techstream, Autel, Launch or equivalent.
Leadership experience managing technicians.
