Senior General Accountant

About the Role
Pan Gulf International DWC LLC is looking for an experienced Senior General Accountant to oversee the company's accounting operations in the UAE and support our Iraq branches. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, Corporate Tax, VAT compliance, treasury control, and supervising accounting records across multiple entities. This role reports directly to the Finance Manager and Finance Director.
Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, shipping, customs, or supply chain is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the full spectrum of accounting operations for the UAE company.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing process.
• Prepare and submit UAE Corporate Tax and VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with FTA regulations.
• Maintain the General Ledger and ensure accurate financial records.
• Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and bank reconciliations.
• Review and monitor accounting records from Iraq branch companies.
• Verify and reconcile receipts and supporting documents, including:
o Port charges
o Customs expenses
o Vendor invoices
o Transportation expenses
o Government fees
o Operational disbursements
• Review and monitor petty cash and cash flow.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Ensure compliance with UAE accounting standards and internal financial controls.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Assist in improving accounting processes, SOPs, and internal controls.
• Provide guidance and support to junior accountants and finance staff.
• Prepare financial reports and analyses for management decision-making.
• Perform other finance-related duties assigned by the Finance Director.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience in the UAE.
• Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, shipping, customs clearance, or supply chain is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of:
o UAE Corporate Tax
o UAE VAT
o IFRS
o Financial Reporting
• Experience managing multi-company or overseas branch accounting is an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of General Ledger, AR, AP, payroll, and bank reconciliation.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP or accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and meet reporting deadlines.
• Fluent in English; Arabic or Chinese is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
• ACCA, CPA, CMA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• Immediate joiners or candidates available within 30 days are preferred.
