Job Description: Assistant AccountantPosition Summary
The Assistant Accountant supports the accounting team with day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, transaction processing, reconciliations, and preparation of financial records. This role helps ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while assisting senior accountants with month-end and year-end processes.Key Responsibilities
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions (invoices, payments, receipts, and credit notes)
Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger
Perform bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
Prepare basic financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation
Maintain accurate accounting records and filing systems (physical and digital)
Support payroll processing and expense claim reviews (where applicable)
Assist with tax compliance tasks (e.g., VAT/GST returns, sales tax filings)
Help prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor queries
Perform data entry and ensure data integrity in the accounting system
Identify and escalate discrepancies or unusual transactions
Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed
