Job Details

The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the Company's overall accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, treasury activities, budgeting support, and financial controls. The role requires a highly experienced finance professional with strong leadership and people management capabilities who can effectively manage and develop a large finance team while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial information.
The incumbent will be responsible for leading the Finance & Accounts Department, supervising multiple finance functions, driving accountability and performance, ensuring compliance with UAE statutory requirements, and providing management with accurate financial insights to support strategic decision-making. The successful candidate must possess proven experience managing sizeable finance teams and fostering a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and teamwork.

Job Requirements:

1. Strong Leadership & Team Management Skills: Proven experience managing, leading, motivating, and developing large finance teams while fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance.

2. People Management Experience: Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple finance functions and successfully manage teams comprising Accountants, Payroll Staff, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, and Finance Support personnel.

3. Financial Accounting Expertise: Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, month-end closing, reconciliations, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial controls.

4. Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, statutory reporting requirements, audit processes, and financial governance practices.

5. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to evaluate financial data, identify trends, resolve issues, and provide practical business solutions.

6. Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with management, auditors, bankers, suppliers, and government authorities.

7. Planning & Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, maintain attention to detail, and ensure the smooth functioning of the Finance Department.

8. ERP & Systems Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, accounting software, Microsoft Excel, financial reporting tools, and business intelligence applications.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.

2. Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, ACA, or equivalent is highly preferred.

3. Minimum 8–12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 3–5 years in a senior finance leadership position.

4. Proven experience managing a finance team of 5–10 or more employees, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Treasury, and General Ledger functions.

5. Experience within FMCG, Trading, Distribution, Wholesale, Foodstuff, Manufacturing, or similar commercial industries in the UAE is highly preferred.

6. Strong knowledge of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, financial reporting standards, audit requirements, payroll practices, and internal controls.

7. Demonstrated track record of successfully leading finance teams, improving financial controls, streamlining processes, and delivering accurate financial reporting within strict deadlines.
