Description
This is the most sweet rescue kitty with the most heartbreaking story - Bagel. She’s a really loving disabled cat we rescued from a park in Al Barsha.
She was rescued with parvovirus, respiratory mycoplasma, bordetela, calicivirus, and ringworms - this is practically a death sentence for cats. She also has special needs - She’s had a really rough life and after we did her x-ray, we found out that her digestive organs are enlarged with food. Her body isn’t able to digest food at a normal pace (the vet said this is likely the result of some trauma) so her food intake has to be carefully monitored so she doesn’t overeat, which would be detrimental to her health in this condition. However, this can easily be done with care and attention in her forever home. She’s lost several teeth as well, and has severe dental inflammation and issues.
She’s been through a lot.
But this little miracle wouldn't let that stop her.
This girl is a survivor. She pulled through and battled parvo, mycoplasma, and bordetela, testing negative on PCR and coming clear of ringworms. Now she’s just battling calici - her treatment is almost over, and she is on the road to recovery.
The big problem is her eyes. She has a congenital deformity - her eyelids are turned inward. This causes her to experience significant pain, irritation, and repeated infection. She has developed several ulcers on her eyes and may go blind. We have successfully fundraised enough for her eye surgery, which is now completed, and she is recovering well!
Because she is contagious to other kitties, she is currently also in an isolation cage - not getting the attention and space she deserves. Bagel doesn't deserve this. She has so much love to give and so much life to live.
Bagel is such a sweet soul, with the most affectionate headbutts and the most loving purrs. She will meow at you for attention, and the most sweet soul is hidden behind her disability. Look beyond her past and see the future. She is fully litter box trained and has no accidents, and she has no behavioral issues, being the most friendly and sociable kitty ever, despite her past.
Just because she has a disability, she is not broken nor lesser - contrarily, she is a resilient survivor that would make a much deeper and much more loving bond with her future foster or owner. It is shown that sick or disabled cats have immense gratitude and affection towards their owners than regular cats - being profoundly loyal for life.
If you would like to foster, please consider Bagel. She needs a safe and loving home more than any cute kitten that comes your way. And to adopters - Bagel will love you eternally if you choose to step in and help her at this stage.
