Description

The PRS "Dead Spec" Silver Sky, designed for John Mayer's Dead & Company farewell tour, is a modified version of his signature guitar built to evoke Jerry Garcia's "Alligator" tones. It features a lightweight Swamp Ash body in Moc Sand satin nitro finish, with its tremolo screwed down to function as a hardtail. Brass components throughout — including the nut, string retainer, and tremolo block — enhance warmth and resonance. The standout addition is an Alembic Blaster preamp replacing the standard jack plate, offering 3–14 dB of adjustable gain for added punch, clear note separation, and compensation for long cable capacitance.
