Marlene Dietrich - Lili Marlene MUSIC ALBUM in Collectible Metal Tin

Original historical recording digitally remastered. All recordings made between 1931-1939.

The Arch-Duchess of Cabaret, Marlene Dietrich was the quintessential glamour girl of the Twentieth Century. This digitally remastered CD, Marlene Dietrich: Lili Marlene, showcases the hypnotic voice that she used to tease, seduce, and mock audiences who were captivated by her enchanting performances. The glamorous Marlene Dietrich (1901-1992) is one of the most alluring female icons of the 1900s. Singing, dancing, acting, and, most importantly, being her own mysterious self, the Berlin born star captivated the imagination of everyone from Ernest Hemingway to Jacques Chirac. Her elegant figure and aristocratic face, tempting and sensual voice, defiance of censures and ambivalence to political pressure all added to her fascinating and enticing persona. Throughout her career, whether singing, acting, or simply speaking, Dietrich employed her voice as an instrument of enchantment. But it was on stage that Dietrich's voice and charm worked their most effective magic. Like Lola from the classic movie The Blue Angel, whom she portrayed so memorably, Dietrich was two parts ice-queen and one part vamp, and she seemed to love to be in front of a crowd, seemingly in touch and yet so distantly removed. Singing in a Paris nightclub, entertaining battle-weary soldiers, or performing at a Las Vegas cabaret - that is where we remember Marlene Dietrich. Listening to the 18 songs on this album, Marlene Dietrich: Lili Marlene, recorded in1930's, when Dietrich s fame was at its pinnacle, we remember the magnetic attraction of this astonishing woman being her own remarkable self.
