Description

25 Syrian Pounds banknote... one of the most beautifully designed notes during late 50's.
Issue Date: 1958
Condition: Graded Choice Uncirculated 64 by PMG.

Era: Issued during a period of significant political transition in Syria, coinciding with the formation of the short-lived United Arab Republic with Egypt.
Design:
The front depicts a female worker picking cotton, which was a major pillar of the Syrian economy at that time.
The back depicts Al Azem Palace in Damascus.
Printer: This specific note (Pick 89a) was printed by Joh. Enschedé (JEZ) in the Netherlands.
