This is a 1000 Francs Déesse Déméter banknote from France, issued by the Banque de France.
Issue Date: 1942
Quality: Extremely Fine / Natural Silk is an essential part of its components.
Watermark: head of Hermes.

The note features the seated statue of the goddess Demeter with the child Hercules on her knees, and a Provençal landscape with a shepherd and goats on the left.
It was part of a specific series issued in 1942 and 1943 during World War II.
The banknote's dimensions are 190 mm by 115 mm, Large size note.

The design was created by Lucien Hector Jonas and engraved by Georges Hourriez and Marguerite Dreyfus (Rita).
