About the Role
We are a growing cosmetics brand looking to enter the Chinese market and expand into additional international markets. We are hiring an International Business Development Manager to lead our China entry strategy — identifying and onboarding distributors, agents, and retail partners — while collaborating with the wider commercial team to drive sales and open new geographies.
This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role suited to someone who can balance strategic market planning with the day-to-day work of building a market from scratch.
Key Responsibilities
China Market Entry
•Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for China across general trade, cross-border e-commerce (Tmall Global, JD Worldwide, Douyin), and offline retail.
•Identify, evaluate, negotiate with, and onboard local distributors, agents, and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) / Key Opinion Consumer (KOC) partners.
•Coordinate NMPA product registration and regulatory compliance with internal R&D / regulatory teams or external consultants.
•Manage relationships with Chinese partners, monitor sell-in / sell-through performance, and report on commercial results.
•Represent the brand at industry events and trade shows (e.g., China Beauty Expo).
Broader International Expansion
•Work with the commercial team to identify and prioritize additional target markets (US, GCC, Southeast Asia, Europe, etc.).
•Support distributor identification, contract negotiation, and onboarding in those markets.
•Contribute to international sales targets through pipeline development and key account management.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
•Partner with marketing on market-specific positioning, packaging adaptation, and promotional campaigns.
•Provide market intelligence (competitor activity, consumer trends, pricing) to inform product development.
•Forecast demand and coordinate with operations on supply planning for international orders.
Requirements
Must-Haves
•5+ years of experience in international sales or business development, ideally in cosmetics, personal care, or adjacent FMCG categories.
•Proven track record of opening new markets and managing distributor / agent relationships.
•Working knowledge of cosmetics regulatory frameworks (NMPA strongly preferred; familiarity with EU CPNP or other regimes a plus).
•Strong commercial acumen — negotiation, contract structuring, margin and pricing analysis.
Preferred
•Professional fluency in Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) preferred but not a must.
•Existing network of Chinese distributors, retailers, or beauty industry contacts.
•Experience with cross-border e-commerce platforms and Chinese social commerce (Douyin, Xiaohongshu, WeChat).
•Additional language skills relevant to other target markets.
What We Offer
•A pivotal role in shaping our international growth from the ground up.
•Competitive base salary plus performance-linked bonus tied to market entry milestones and sales targets.
