We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Transport Manager to lead the fleet, drivers, and transport operations and ensure goods and people move safely, legally, on time, and at a controlled cost. Reporting to the Operations Manager, Logistics Manager, or General Manager, the successful candidate will hold full accountability for the transport function, from daily vehicle deployment to compliance, safety, and budget performance.
The core of the role is transport operations management. The Transport Manager oversees planning, scheduling, and dispatch across the fleet, ensures vehicles and drivers are allocated to meet customer commitments and internal demand, and monitors on-time delivery, utilisation, and service levels daily. Disruptions such as breakdowns, driver absence, traffic problems, and urgent requests are resolved quickly through the dispatch team, with the manager stepping in personally on the most serious issues. Routes and loads are reviewed regularly to cut empty running and unnecessary mileage.
