Job Description

This position is for Head Chef of a young and fast-growing catering company in Dubai. The company started with a focus on private catering & events, but is also now also very focused on b2b and contract catering which involves 3 main areas:
(1) Creating and producing private label items (sandwiches, salads, hot meals, desserts) for coffee shops, etc.
(2) Fulfilling meal plan requirements for clients who sell to their own end-customers (for example 3 meals & 2 snacks delivered in a thermal bag daily).
(3) Prepped items for restaurants and/or kiosks that need to focus more on final cooking or plating touches.
The Head Chef will be responsible for:
(1)Overseeing the entire kitchen operation which includes management of a young and talented team of around 15.
(2) Ensuring HACCP standards are maintained and quality is controlled. This includes proper recipe adherence, consistent testing and tasting, and plating/packag guidelines standards daily.
(3) Reviewing operations to ensure optimization of resources and manhours.
(4) Interfacing with our private & agency clients for private events so that proposals are put together in a timely manner and jobs are confirmed and secured (dinners, parties, birthdays, corporate launches, etc). Flawless execution of such jobs is paramount with the assistance of our Events Supervisor and Sous Chefs.
(5) Interfacing with our existing and new b2b clients for quality issues, and new menu design, development and implementation.
(6) Reporting to Senior Management on daily operational matters and standards, including but not limited to: (a) devising new systems and processes if required, (b) review of existing recipes and suppliers, (c) proper costing of all recipes, (d) generating operational savings, (e) advising on kitchen HR matters.

Skills

- Deep experience running b2b catering operations with an emphasis on finished meals, not necessarily industrial production.
- Organization and attention to detail.
- The ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to embrace change and growth/scaling challenges head-on.
- Strong leadership skills and techniques with a proven record of overseeing teams, coaching, and training.
- Emotional quotient sensitivity in dealing with peers internally and clients externally.
- Creativity in recipe development and presentation.
- Diversified background in different types of cuisines.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: A positive attitude with high energy, and lots of ambition.
