I am writing to express my interest in the School Counsellor/Student Support position at your institution. I have recently completed my M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology from Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), India, following my B.Sc. in Clinical Psychology. I am eager to begin my professional career in an educational setting where I can contribute to the emotional, social, and personal development of students.
My academic training has provided me with knowledge of counselling techniques, child and adolescent development, behavioural concerns, psychological wellbeing, and basic psychological assessment. I have also developed strong skills in active listening, empathy, communication, interpersonal relationships, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
As part of my clinical training, I gained exposure through internships at psychiatric wards, rehabilitation centres, and mental health organisations, including Yenepoya Medical College Psychiatric Ward, KS Abdullah Hospital Psychiatric Ward, Yenepoya Rehabilitation Centre, and other mental health settings. These experiences helped me develop a professional understanding of individuals with diverse emotional and behavioural needs.
I am particularly interested in working with students and creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where they feel comfortable expressing their concerns. I believe my clinical psychology background, interpersonal skills, and genuine interest in supporting young people would allow me to contribute positively to your school community.
