The McIntosh MC2105 is a legendary vintage 2-channel solid-state power amplifier manufactured between 1967 and 1977. It is highly famous for being McIntosh's very first solid-state power amplifier to feature their iconic blue VU meters.
Key Specifications
Power Output: 105 Watts RMS continuous per channel into 4, 8, or 16 ohms (both channels driven)
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): Less than 0.25% at rated power from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz
Frequency Response: 10 Hz to 100,000 Hz (+0, -3.0 dB) at 1 watt output
Damping Factor: 13 at 8 ohms, 18 at 4 ohms, 10 at 16 ohms
Input Sensitivity: 0.5V (adjustable via rear panel level controls)
Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 90 dB (below rated output)
Output Impedance Tapings: 4 ohms, 8 ohms, and 16 ohms (via McIntosh Autoformers)
Dimensions: 16-1/4" Wide \(\times \) 7-1/8" High \(\times \) 14-1/2" Deep
Weight: 65 lbs (29.5 kg) net
Key Features
McIntosh Autoformers: Ensures the amplifier delivers the full 105 watts into any speaker impedance load (4, 8, or 16 ohms).
Dual Blue VU Meters: Large, illuminated analog meters measuring output power.
Meter Range Selector: Switchable between Off, -20dB, -10dB, and 0dB scaling.
Sentry Monitor: Patented protective circuitry preventing transistor damage during short-circuits.
Since the MC2105 is a pure power amplifier, you will need a separate preamplifier to control the volume and switch inputs.
