This impressive Cambodian sandstone sculpture of Vishnu dates from the 10th–12th Century, during the height of the Khmer kingdom. It displays refined craftsmanship, most visible in the intricate pleating of the garment and the expressive facial features.
The face shows a calm, meditative expression with wide-open eyes, a broad nose and full lips. Braided hair rises into a traditional topknot. The torso is adorned with finely worked jewellery in high relief, while the lower body is wrapped in a carefully carved pleated robe.
The piece remains in good condition for its age, with natural weathering expected from a centuries-old sandstone sculpture. Comparable Khmer sandstone torsos of similar size typically sell internationally in the AED 25,000–45,000 range.
