What is Nol?
The unified automated fare collection card (UAFC) has been named after an old Farsi word nol. "Nol" means "fare" or "cost of using transport".
The word is not in common use these days.
Nol is similar to another Arabic word karwa - which is commonly used in Kuwaiti, Bahraini and Qatari dialects.
Karwa means "fare" or "cost" of doing any service or certain job. In the past, nol was used to refer to fare or cost of using horse and donkey transportation.

someone explain this to me, how is the metro helping reducing congestion when it'll be responsible for putting 787 buses in the roads? ... altogether those 787 double decker busses can carry much more people than what you can fit in the trains.
Visitors to Deira City Centre will no longer have to stand in queues snaking up to several hundred metres to wait for taxis as they will be able to take the Metro beginning September 9.
This is definitely a great news but i just hope that the metro can maintain pleasant smell. :)
Waiting for you to his me on the head with your club and drag me to your cave..LOL...Oh me yeah fine :-)
one of thr lines will trmonate at the back end of Rashidiya just by 311 interchange..... but that one won't be ready until next year...
aaaah Bob you are a train spotter geek person !! cool
anyway - the rumour has it that many of the statiions will just not be ready - the building shell for many havent been finished and there is HUGE pressure on the fitout crews to finish but they should have started already. Many of the stations will be boarded up and youll only be able to pass through them but not use them. Thats from a friend of mine working for the interior fitout company and they are under immense pressure

none of the retailers will be ready for the opening of the metro. till date they have not awarded any of them.
We are still waiting for our note.Planing skills are poor as usual. Its more important to open on a fancy date than a actual completion of the project

plain and simple , its just another date that was announced that contractors cant stick to .
only 11 stations will open , which is silly , coz u never know when the rest are gona be done !
and its worse about the retail, coz the metro is gona open to the public , and then the interior work on the retail shops will start , which is even sillier ..
i wonder who the project manager is .... we need someone to blame !
